Rest in Peace?

When a friend or loved one dies, people often hope that they will be able to “rest in peace”.
This expression has been around for centuries, but it clearly displays a fundamental misconception of what happens when a soul departs this world on the death of its human body.

Based on my dialogue with my spirit guide, Albert, and my astral trips to the Spirit Side, souls do not go into a peaceful slumber when they return to the spirit realm. Although they are certainly at peace, because there is no pain, suffering, or negative emotions on the Spirit Side, they are actually quite active in the afterlife. They can pursue knowledge, participate in recreational activities, attend concerts and lectures, and explore the universe, all while enjoying the beauty, serenity, and unconditional love that abounds on the Other Side. And if they wish, they can incarnate again on the Earth plane or into one of the many millions of life forms that exist in our vast universe.

I think a more appropriate farewell to the recently departed would be: “Enjoy your adventures, my friend, and I will see you soon on the Other Side”.

Rest in Peace? — 4 Comments

  1. I agree Garnet….well said! This is the thoughts and attitudes our loved ones would want us to have …. wishing them a grand journey with joy and looking forward to seeing them again. They would not want us to continue to be suffering and sad, but to be happy for them and to look forward to being with them again one day when it is our time to go to the Other Side. My son passed in 2006 and I would not want to take away his joy there being able to see me sad on the earth plane. There should be a natural time of mourning, but a person should not hang on to this grief for an unnatural amount of time, but to get on with our own lives and journey and our soul’s purpose for coming here to earth.

  2. Based on current knowledge, that is most appropriate. I will most certainly start saying this. It also seems to keep them alive from the human perspective. This is really wonderful news and I do hope that people will appreciate it. Changing hearts and minds is a difficult task, but it really should not stop us from spreading this absolutely wonderful news. Thanks for the reminder Garnet.
